Our Community of Practice (CoP) will gather at Voyager Beach Resort in Mombasa, Kenya from September 15th to 19th, 2025 for the official launch of Phase 2.
The convening includes a one-day Leadership Retreat and a three-day in-person convening:
Leaders' Retreat (September 15th)
The Leadership Retreat is designed for leaders from partner organisations to convene, learn, and share insights on effective approaches to leading their organisations in delivering systems change initiatives. The retreat will adopt practical and participatory methodologies, including reflection, interactive exercises, and journaling, to create a space for deep engagement and growth.
By the end of the retreat, leaders will leave equipped with enhanced strategies to support their teams in driving systems change, as well as practical tools to prioritise their own rest, wellbeing, and rejuvenation.
Main Convening (September 16th–18th)
The 3-day convening will bring together a diverse and representative group of CoP members, including two representatives from each partner organisation, ideally a mix of senior leadership and programme-level staff engaged in systems change work.This gathering will:
- Strengthen trust and relationships among existing and new CoP members from across Africa.
- Co-create a learning agenda focused on systems change practice, leadership, and institutional transformation.
- Define shared methodologies and core values for how the CoP learns and collaborates across contexts.
- Explore key systems-level challenges through reflective learning sessions and case studies.
- Establish an Advisory Council to guide and support the long-term growth and strategic direction of the CoP.
Expected Outcomes
- A clear, co-developed learning agenda and activity roadmap for Phase 2
- Strengthened network of trust and peer support across diverse geographies and sectors.
- Agreed-upon operational methodologies and principles guiding CoP engagement.
- Formation of a representative and functional Advisory Council.
- Enhanced capacity and shared insights on key systems change themes.
