This article draws from a virtual learning session of the Africa Systems Change Community of Practice (CoP) in September 2024 on the topic “Attracting New Funders for Systems Change” which was led by Sarah Mukasa, former Division Director of Women’s Rights at Open Society Africa. It introduces the “Four Rs Framework” for strategic resource mobilisation for systems change work in Africa. The framework addresses the evolving and complex landscape of philanthropic funding, which often emphasises short-term outcomes over long-term systemic impact.
