2nd Africa CoP In-Person Convening (2025)

The Africa Systems Change Community of Practice (CoP) marked the beginning of its next chapter with the launch of Phase 2 during the 2nd Africa CoP In-Person Convening, held at Voyager Beach Resort in Mombasa, Kenya.

Bringing together systems change leaders and practitioners from across the continent, the convening provided a valuable space for collective reflection, peer learning, and strategic alignment. Building on lessons from previous years, participants explored ways to strengthen collaboration, deepen impact, and advance systems-change efforts across diverse contexts.

Leadership Retreat
15 September 2025

The convening opened with a dedicated one-day Leadership Retreat that brought together 24 senior leaders from 18 partner organizations.
Through facilitated reflection, leadership case clinics, and peer dialogue, participants explored the challenges and opportunities of leading systems change in complex and rapidly evolving environments. The retreat created a trusted space for honest conversations, enabling leaders to share experiences, strengthen relationships, and reflect on the importance of well-being and resilience in sustaining transformational work.

Main Convening
16–18 September 2025

The three-day main convening welcomed 53 participants from 20 Co-Impact partner organizations across eight countries: Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Kenya, South Africa, Uganda, and Tanzania. Using highly participatory learning approaches, participants engaged in rich discussions and collaborative exploration of key themes in systems change, including political engagement, institutional transformation, adaptive leadership, and sustaining long-term impact. The convening highlighted the collective wisdom within the community and strengthened connections across organizations and countries.

Looking Ahead

As Phase 2 takes shape, the relationships, insights, and commitments forged in Mombasa continue to provide a strong foundation for collective action across the Africa CoP. The convening reinforced the power of learning together and the importance of collaboration in driving sustainable systems change across the continent.
